Late January Update

From all of us at Fallen Acorn, Happy New Year! We hope you enjoyed the MiniKegs over the Christmas period, they certainly flew off the shelves ;)

January has been good for us, despite those pesky Dryanuary folk. We officially launched Hole Hearted on cask at the Hole in the Wall and want to thank John and team for a great evening. The response on the night was great, and since then reviews have been flying in on Untappd.

Hole In The Wall

One thing we need to clear up about Hole Hearted though, is the fact it hasn't changed since the Oakleaf days. The recipe is an award winner and the beer continues to be brewed with 100% Cascade Hops. We have heard some strange comments and want to put them to bed, on the flipside we've also had some great conversations about the subtle differences that affect flavour, such as hop harvest, yeast age and simply where and how it is served. We're really keen to get feedback and welcome emails and Untappd reviews.

On the topic of how beer is served, we are still in the process of finalising how bottling will be done. We thank you for your patience whilst we do this folks, we are committed to ensuring quality is 100%. We've also been keeping on top of the interesting discussions ongoing about Cask, and some breweries choosing to ditch them in favour of Keg. We're certainly not on this bandwagon, however, we are shortly going to be offering a selection of our ales on keg which we look forward to getting feedback on. Ultimately, our plan with kegs is to get Fallen Acorn beers into new establishments and offer drinkers more choice.

January has also been our first month trading with Wetherspoons, The Star in Gosport, The Sir Alec Rose in Port Solent, The John Jacques in Portsmouth and The Crown Inn, Fareham have all taken Fallen Acorn ales thus far.

On the pilot brewery this month we have been experimenting with Black Hearted, our dark brew of Hole Hearted and our super-hoppy IPA, Hoptimus Prime which we are super proud of and looking forward to scaling up and getting in Hampshire's Craft Beer bars.

We hope you can join us this weekend at the Ashcroft Winter Ale Festival for a Hole Hearted ;)
